Friday night we didn't really have anything going on, so Vettie and I decided to go to the library to squeeze a few hours of studying into our weekend. Little did we know, our junior pharmacy friends were thinking the exact same thing. So naturally, we caused some shenanigans and ended up talking to them for a while as a nice study break. This semester especially, I've come to love Christina, Lindsay, and Andrea so much more. They're all doing such a great job of being pharmacy students, having VP positions in DG, and making time for real life too. Seeing them be so successful makes me have a hope that my junior year won't really be the worst thing ever, and I will be able to get by, and have some fun along the way.
Saturday morning, I got up bright and early and had an interview to be a Sorority Recruitment Counselor for next fall's recruitment. After interviews, Vettie and I embraced the beautiful weather and our cute professional attire and walked to Starbucks for an early morning study session. After last week's mess of tests, we decided to do a better job of holding each other accountable for studying everyday so that we are prepared for the next test without needing to cram the few days leading up to the exam. We studied med micro, quizzed each other, read and wrote essays and odes about herpesviridae, and laughed a lot.
This year and semester in particular, I continue to appreciate Vettie and our friendship more and more. She has always been such a great friend to me, but this year we've bonded over friends, broken friendships, homework, studying, honor board, boys, friendship walks, midnight chats, boys, crafts, having the same schedule, and just spending time getting to know each other better every day.
Saturday afternoon was DG crush. Everyone flooded to the house in their "used to be cool" attire. It was like a 90s music video exploded. I love dressing up in crazy outfits, thanks to camp, and after a few quality Goodwill visits, phenomenal 90s outfits were assembled.
This was easily my favorite event this semester, and possibly all year. I just love crazy outfits and themes of any sort, so crush is just the perfect event for me. All of my friends were there, it was a beautiful day, and I love my sisters. Fanny packs, beanie babies, Pokemon cards, and jean skorts make a comeback, even if it was only for four hours.
The themes and costumes and everything are so great, but the best part was being with friends. I love my friends and realize so often how important relationships are to me. I'm a relationships kinda girl and spend a lot of time investing in other people because I believe that it is so important.
I believe that one of the most valuable things that you can give someone is time - to listen, to talk, to play, to just be together. I am so glad that this weekend allowed me to invest in so many of the people who continue to be main characters in my story this semester. I am beyond grateful for the person that they've helped me to become.
